Transitioning from a Classroom Trainer to an Online Trainer

Synchronous Online training is different than classroom training, but that doesn’t mean that a classroom trainers’ skills are obsolete. Trainers new to online tools can apply their skills in a new way, adapt their thinking about their relationships with learners, and adopt new methods to engage learners as successfully as they did in the classroom.

This session offers an evolutionary look at synchronous online training, and how to turn classroom trainers into online speaker coaches/instructors. Using real-life examples, job aids and checklists, participants will find out what works and what doesn’t when preparing for and delivering online sessions. You will learn how preparation steps have changed, and how to use your new resources to communicate and connect with learners before, during, and after sessions.

In this session, you will learn:

Audience: Designers, classroom trainers, project managers, managers, and training executives who need to reskill their staff to be online trainers/coaches.

Preparing for Successful Synchronous Events: Four Aspects of the Online Producer Role

Synchronous Online software tools provide a forum in which trainers and SMEs can engage with learners – and learners with one another – without having to leave their offices. But as teams adopt synchronous online tools, they quickly – and often dramatically – discover that without proper preparation and support even professional trainers with well-designed courses can crash and burn. The role of online event producer is emerging as being someone who prepares the technical aspects of the session, and supports presenters and learners before and during an online learning session.

This session will teach you what is required to support synchronous training events, how to proactively address the most common problems, and the strategies that get derailed sessions back on track. From coaching presenters to ensuring good audio function, you’ll discover strategies that even experienced trainers and producers overlook.

In this session, you will learn:

Audience: Intermediate level managers, developers, producers, and e-Learning support staff. Experience using a synchronous online training tool (e.g. Elluminate, Breeze, WebEx, Live Meeting, Centra, etc.) is helpful.
